Well, I just had my sixth brain MRI and I want to thank all of you who pay your health insurance premiums for supporting me through this ordeal. I apologize for running up the cost of health care by repeatedly using this most expensive technology. One would think that a frequent flier like me would get an occasional freebie. At least when you go to the car wash they punch your ticket and every tenth on is free. Good luck Obama in getting your arms around this one.
The report on the MRI was good.... or as the doctors like to say "there was nothing there". I assume they don't mean that my brain went missing, but that the tumor is not visible. We assume the tumor cells are still in my brain hidden away in my love center which is warm and toasty and they are fleeing madly from the hate center which is cold, frosty and very inhospitable. Thus I'm on chemotherapy monthly to mop up residual cancer collections and again I thank you and apologize for using this expensive therapy($150 a pill-four daily). I tried to get the meds through Canada at one-third the cost but it is now against the law and my insurance company wouldn't cover the cost if I chose that route. Sigh!
Fatigue and lack of stamina are the big side effects of the chemo and if I leave my feet for long a nap is close behind. Such a waste of time.
Bimonthly MRIs and monthly chemo will be the norm for the future. Most of the time the tumor is back within 15 months, but some people go four years or rarely even decades before the tumor reappears. We are always hopeful for new therapies that extend quality life.
Margie and I and the family extend our loving thanks to all of you for your kindness and support.

Hi, Eric! Just to show why I stay a "lurker" so often, I just wrote a lengthy comment to your latest posting and it is now residing somewhere I know not...where ever misguided blog messages go to hang out unread, unloved, and, probably, quite contentedly!
I have been reading your postings ever since your news of your cancer knocked the breath right out of me. Today I decided to leave the "lurker" ranks and share this little tidbit with you about appreciating those who pay their outrageous healthcare insurance premiums and wondering why the "free carwash" coupon couldn't apply once in a while! I just had I131 treatment for my thyroid cancer and the little pill I swallowed, which was no bigger than a tylenol capsule, cost $9,000.00 I am informed!!! Just the pill! The docs charge and payment was just a little over $200.00!!! (Sounds oh too familiar, doesn't it??) Obama's arms are reeeeeeeeally going to have to stretch to encompass all this!!
Well, I think it must be nap time?? I am assured that I am more than just a pile of hormones and cells that have run amok, but lately around 2pm more days than not just sitting down can cause a couple of hours to just disappear!!!
Gary and I will keep on reading your posts as long as you care to share with those of us who admire you and Margie...especially as what you say often resonates so well with what we have experienced/ thought/ felt/ and wondered, in the past few years of unexpected shots from left field.

M and EO: First good news I've heard in awhile. May you continue to be vacant!! Trip to view the remains of the cabin was a bummer; things are mvoing on Island Time, so I am keeping my plans in place and will be in Nicaragua with my Giving Circle until mid-March. Will check back with you then.
Continued healing! How's Mr. Hunt doing these days???

Hello EO-I'm still your fan, now from afar. I always knew you had a big love center too although you didn't really want anyone to know it. I also sprinkled fairy dust in your knit hat before you wore it for good luck
You would be proud of me-doing community service, (or it seems like volunteer work when the paycheck arrives) I am teaching this term; junior nursing students for Oregon Health Sciences, my alma mater. You probably have heard about the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE)It is a new cirriculum for the entire state with the goal of making it easier for ADN RNs to transition to BSN programs and also for more uniform education. It is bogged down in red tape and quite a challenge to comprehend for both students and myself, but we are well on our way. I love curious minds and well-intentioned people (aka nursing students to name one group). WE haven't stopped missing you at Pulmo, come see us when you can and in your downtime, read my sons book!I'd like to know what you think Lots 'o Love Ms Day
Of the billions and trillions of planets and things, accross the big blue expanse called the sky. Of the millions and billions of people on earth, and the thousands and thousands of life times. We circle the sun, the moon around us, as we spiral around the galaxy. In the whole reality of time and space, the universe is expanding. And we are just two people, blindly floating.- locked in this funky orbit for love of life, and humor. At least that's my excuse. LOve TE (you know that word verification thing before posting is a killer for diswexica)
